Ladder Injury Lawyer Boston

Electrician falls from ladder, injures head 

$1.75 million settlement:


The plaintiff was a union electrician working at a construction site in Boston. On the morning oft he accident, he ascended a wooden ladder and began working on an upper level. At some point, needing additional equipment, he went over to the ladder he had ascended and began to descend it, not realizing that someone had unsecured it from the time he ascended. The ladder went backwards and the plaintiff fell some 10-12 feet, landing on the back of his head.


Suit was filed against the general contractor and thrce subcontractors. Cross-claims were filed amongst the defendants. Approximately 25 depositions were taken. Each party blamed the other and/or the plaintiff.


The plaintiff suffered extensive injuries. He fractured his skull, mastoid and ribs, injured a shoulder, knee and back, lost hearing in one ear and continues to suffer from vertigo and a ringing in his ear. He remains disabled.

Doctors submitted reports reflecting lost earning capacity as well as the cost of future medical care.

The matter was mediated over nine hours with all the defendants and the workers' compensation carrier in attendance. The defendants paid $1.75 million. and the compensation carrier waived its lien and paid an additional $135,000.
